Our Mission

This website was created to provide a communication network that facilitates the interests of Long Term Disabled (LTD) pilots and the present and future surviving spouses and children of all retired pilots. The D&S email contact list created by John Erickson will also continue to operate as an adjunct to this medium.  (Delta Disabled Pilots Association, DDPA, and DDPSA are considered one and the same organization.)

As a result of the Delta bankruptcy and continued instability within the airline industry, long term disabled pilots, survivors, and all pilots retired before June 1, 2006 should recognize that the assets of the Pilots’ Disability and Survivorship Trust may be targeted for attack and redistribution by other competing interests.  Although all Delta pilots were lifetime dues paying members of the Air Line Pilots Association, ALPA has repeated conveyed their policy of not representing retired pilots and has at times acted contrary to the best interest of retired pilots.  Therefore, the LTD pilots, survivors, and retired pilots with spouses who will eventually become dependent on the D & S Trust for a lifeline of benefits are forced to look elsewhere to protect their benefits.

Many Delta LTD pilots and survivors have already committed their support to DDPSA to watchdog their interests in the D & S Trust. This website provides a medium for them and all retired Delta pilots to participate in a communication network dedicated to that purpose.

The information disseminated within this site has been carefully gathered from a variety of sources both public and private.  Ev Gost, a former ALPA MEC R&I Committee member, serves as the resident technical advisor regarding issues that are germane to D&S Trust benefits.  We continue to be represented in all ERISA matters by Charles Dyke of Nixon Peabody LLP.

OPEN ACCESS:  Registration within this information network is a valuable means of bringing DAL LTD pilots, survivors, and normally retired pilots with future survivors together into a cohesive special interest group.  You are encouraged to register by going to the “Contact Us” tab and filling out the requested information.  We expect every disabled pilot to contribute $500 the first year.  After the first year, annual dues for disabled pilots are $200.  For all present and future survivors the annual dues are $100 each year.  However, we will accept contributions of any size as installment payments.
